Woman Critically Injured in Shopping Cart Attack
A 47-year-old woman was severely injured when two juveniles hurled a shopping cart off a mall walkway. At least 10 witnesses saw the crime take place, and a video recorder also caught the event on tape. The shopping cart was dropped from four stories up, the height of which caused the brutal trauma to the unsuspecting philanthropist walking below. She was taken to a local hospital, where doctors put her into a medically induced coma.
The woman is well known for decades of charity work in her community. In fact, she had just finished shopping for Halloween candy for underprivileged kids with her 13-year-old son when she was hit by the shopping cart. When speaking to the press, the woman's husband showed remarkable compassion for the 12-year-old boys allegedly responsible for his wife's grave injuries and remained focused on supporting his wife's long road of recovery. Doctors predict she will face months of intense rehabilitation because of the extent of the injuries to her brain and are unsure about her long-term prognosis.
