Discussing B-1/B-2 Business Visitor Visas

A citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must first obtain a visa, either a nonimmigrant visa for a temporary visit, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence. The visa allows a foreign citizen to travel to the United States and receive permission to enter the U.S. The "visitor" visa is a nonimmigrant visa for persons desiring to enter the United States temporarily for business (B-1), for pleasure or medical treatment (B-2), or combination of both (B-1/B-2) purposes. These visas are available to foreign nationals for the purpose of engaging in legitimate business activities such as conventions, conferences, and other legitimate activities.

To qualify as a nonimmigrant visitor for business, the person applying must intend to keep their foreign residence abroad, show that they have sufficient means of support during their stay and establish that he or she intends to leave the United States at the end of the temporary stay.  Visas are valid for not more than a year, and extensions are granted in six-month increments, although most are no longer than 3 months.  A business visitor will be granted only a period of entry necessary to conduct business such as research, litigation, consulting, commercial transactions and others.  The business visa is ideal for U.S. companies desiring to bring overseas workers to the United States for brief periods of stays and to assist with important projects.

Our office will work with you to obtain and prepare the proper documentation to apply to the Immigration department in order to obtain these visas for you.  Few areas of Federal Law change quicker and are more confusing than Immigration Law. Therefore, it is very important to seek out a competent New Jersey immigration attorney to deal with the immigration process if you wish to avoid lengthy delays and other bureaucratic issues.
