Following our meetings in Washington, DC to discuss immigration reform
the American Immigration Lawyers Association held its 2016 Immigration
Agency Update. In attendance were the officials who run the Department
of Labor, USCIS, Executive Office for Immigration Review, Customs and
Boarder Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department
of State. We discussed PERM modernization, H-1B filings, prevailing wage
issues, new policy memos, service center processing updates, overburdened
court dockets, hiring of new immigration judges, visa waiver changes,NAFTA
and i-94 issues, prosecutoral discretion standards, detention of women
and children, visa processing updates and NVC center procedures.
As always it was an extremely interesting day.
